Shari is a traditional cloth, which about six yards long and one and quarter yard wide. Shari has an old history. It is being used from hundred and thousand year ago. But there is few difference between the old and modern one. There are mainly five kinds of Shari. They are cotton,  jamdari and khatan, silk. From the ancient time the people of our country makes shari with traditional instruments. Today modern machines and technology are used beside the traditional instruments. Shari mainly made at Narsingdi, Narayangonj, Rajshahi, Tangail, Pabara, and Tribal Peoples area. Cotton and that Shari unmade from cotton and silk are made from Rashem. The Shari producers got the raw materials from internal source and from abroad.
